Refreshing Nature Parks in Quezon City

Some of the largest community parks in Metro Manila are located in Quezon City. These parks are pet-friendly, ideal for running or jogging, and convenient for picnics. Whether you live in a house in Quezon City’s premiere subdivisions or in a condominium at the heart of the city’s business districts, these parks are a refreshing alternative for a weekend outing.

Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center

A zoological and botanical garden, the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center (NAPWC) is a massive nature complex in Diliman, Quezon City. With wooden areas and beautiful plants, the park also houses a lagoon, an aquarium, and botanical garden. The park also has a wildlife rescue center, which serves as the home of several indigenous animals.

For a very minimal price, visitors can expect to find a whole day’s worth of activities to enjoy. It’s packed on weekends with families picnicking and friends going on photo walks. The NAPWC is near another park and famous city landmark, the Quezon Memorial Circle.

La Mesa Eco Park

The La Mesa Eco Park is one of the largest ecotourism destinations in Metro Manila. For a minimal entrance fee, visitors can enjoy horseback riding, ziplining, or swimming at the park’s salt-water pool. They can also paddle boat ride in the lagoon. Bikers can also try out the Mountain Bike Trail where they can test their mettle at a 1.2 forested trail.

But those who want a more relaxed stay at the park can simply stroll around and witness the flowers blooming around the large nature reserve. La Mesa Ecopark also has an amphitheater, where those picnicking commonly stay. Soon to open are the Adventure Zone team building facility and mini-golf course.

UP Sunken Garden

Located inside the campus of the University of the Philippines, the Sunken Garden is a popular basin-shaped formation. Sunken Garden is the largest plot of land in the campus. Because of its expanse, it’s a common venue for different university events and activities. Early-morning or late-night runners also jog and circle the whole oval of Sunken Garden.

Bernardo Park

Bernardo Park located along EDSA near Kamuning, is the first public park opened in Quezon City. Recently rehabilitated, Bernardo Park has facilities that can accommodate visitors of various ages. Apart from its own basketball court, swimming pool, and playground, it also has a biking and skating area. A monument dedicated to former mayor Ponciano Bernardo can be found in the park.
