Premiere Malls that Shape Muntinlupa’s Cosmopolitan Culture

“Southerners” need not go far for good shopping and quality entertainment. Two particular malls in Muntinlupa are known for being home to high-end brands, top-tier restaurants, and an array of upscale lifestyle choices. Their close proximity to the citizens not only from Muntinlupa but also those from nearby cities like Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Cavite has made it a popular destination for entertainment and leisure among families, yuppies, and working professionals. These two malls are Alabang Town Center and Festival Alabang.

Alabang Town Center

Alabang Town Center, a shopping mall under the Ayala Malls brand, is along Alabang-Zapote Road corner Madrigal and Corporate Avenues. This mall, which includes a number of international chains, is a favorite among yuppies for its comfortable setting for hanging out with friends. Aside from having many retail options, Town, as it is referred to by certified South kids, also has several bookstores, art supplies outlets, and specialty stalls. Also within the mall’s vast complex are six cinemas, sports equipment stores, and The Metro Department Store, which opened in 2012.

In the middle of the mall is an activity center which has become the setting for several concerts and events. An outdoor activity center at the Corte de Las Palmas is also the setting for many community shows. Alabang Town Center’s newest area is the Corporate Center which is a strip of famous restaurants including churreria La Maripili; Latin American chicken joint Senor Pollo; and retro Japanese Robot-themed restaurant Mr. Roboto.

Festival Alabang

Formerly known as Festival Supermall, Festival Alabang is owned and operated by Filinvest Land Inc.’s subsidiary, Filinvest Alabang, Inc. The mall, located at Corporate Avenue, Filinvest City, is the fifth largest mall in the Philippines.

Festival Alabang features stores for apparel, appliances, wellness, and home furnishing among the hundreds of brands that can be found inside its extensive floor area. Festival Alabang caters to all markets, as the mall has mid-range to luxury stalls that can be enjoyed by everyone. The highlights of the mall include its glass walkway that opens up into the mall’s new wing; its 10 high-quality cinemas in its massive complex; X-site, the mall’s indoor theme park; Pixie Forest, a funhouse attraction for kids; and the Festival River Park.

Landmark’s supermarket and food center opened in mid-2017, while in October, a department store had followed suit. Aside from breathtaking contemporary interiors, Landmark offers a food court, a variety of local and imported brands, and huge space that makes grocery shopping more comfortable.

Even with new malls and new concepts opening around the area, Alabang Town Center and Festival Alabang remain as the two top shopping centers in the city, because of their huge space, numerous offerings, and beautiful interiors. The malls serve almost like an extension of home to residents of the city, while they’re a whole new world of discovered luxury for first-time visitors.
